Iconic hotel celebrates four decades under the same ownership
David Elliston became the longest serving landlord in Herefordshire with the longest serving group of staff.
When David Elliston bought The Feathers in Ledbury forty years ago, there were coal fires in the bedrooms, three bathrooms for all the rooms, stables as outbuildings and a gentlemen only bar .
Move forward to 2013 and The Feathers now has Fuggles Brasserie; Quills Restaurant; individually designed bedrooms ; two apartments and a cottage ( Eve's Cottage named after the hotel's legendary bar maid) ; The Court Yard Rooms and a Leisure Spa.
At a lunch to celebrate the occasion David thanked not only his family, who all help at the hotel, the staff but also the guests who make it all possible.
What The Feathers stands for is in no small part due to the staff David has " collected " around him over the years
Eight members of staff have worked a total of 239 Years. !!! A tremendous achievement.
However, the toast of the day was to The Feathers itself; to the fantastic old building that is at the heart of Ledbury.
